After six years of incredible work for the high school running community, NETC is phasing out its website. Launched by Dustin Lewellyn at a time when traditional media had largely stopped covering high school running, the NETC webpage, Twitter account and outreach activities gave a huge boost to the sport. Dustin stepped back from NETC several years ago when he joined the Doane coaching staff in order to prevent conflicts of interest in the recruiting process, but his mission lives on.
I began writing for NETC about a year after its launch, and I'm proud to take over Dustin's role to promote and celebrate high school running. Now that I have two sons competing in college, I'm also going to add college coverage to the mix. With my sons' help, we also hope to engage more high school runners to help us provide content for our website and social media pages.
The website is developed, more ideas are on paper, and a new season is about to begin. It's time to nerd out.
