Defending champ and three-time medalist Alex Sindelar of Pierce headlines a strong returning field, which lost only three medalists to graduation. Among the other top returnees, Lindee Henning saw great success at the State track meet, placing 7th in the Class B 1600 and 3200 in 5:26 and 11:53. Perhaps more impressively, Danie Parriott ran the grueling distance triple at the Class C meet, finishing 13th (2:28), 5th (5:27) and 3rd (12:11). Seven returners finished within 8 seconds of each other in 2020, so the fight for a top 5 medal will be ridiculous. It will be slightly less daunting because Platteview has moved up to Class B this year, so 2020 10th-place medalist Olivia Lawrence is not on the list below.
The top 16 returners are below - 15 from Class C plus Christina Martinson, a 2020 Class D medalist. Thanks to Axtell XC for pointing out Bloomfield-Wausa's reclassification for 2021.
