Summer 2024 T&F/XC camps

We've been trying to keep track of summer camps offered in Nebraska and nearby states. If you've got a camp to add, please send details to jayslagle@hotmail.com.


May 30 - July 2 - Two USATF-certified coaches offer one-hour T&F clinics every Tuesday/Thursday from 6:00-7:00 pm at Omaha Westside for kids from kindergarten through 6th grade. Go to this link for more info.


May 30 - Aurora hosts the Doane coaching staff from 12:00-7:00 for T&F and XC camp. The camp is split into two three-hour sessions so that attendees can attend sessions in two different disciplines. Go to https://www.doaneathletics.com/documents-general/camps/FyeOutdoorCamp.pdf for more info. .


May 31 - NWU hosts a T&F camp for grades 7-12 from 9:00 to 12:00. See https://www.nebrwesleyan.edu/student-life/athletics/camps/track-and-field-summer-clinic for more info. Throughout June - Concordia is holding a series of two-hour camps per T&F discipline, separated by one week, throughout June. Go to https://www.cune.edu/athletics/teams/track-and-field/camps for more info.


Throughout the summer - Michael Peterson, aka "Hurdle Nerd", is a long-time coach based in O'Neill. He's offering FREE "Hurdle School” clinics at the O’Neill Track on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7-8 am this summer. Go to www.HurdleSchool.com for more info.


June 5-6 - Free-to-Compete is a training program focused on the mental side of performance. Two Papio South leadership teachers/coaches provide 90-minute sessions on each day. I observed these sessions last summer and highly recommend them. You can find more information at https://www.free2compete.com/


June 6 - UNK offers two T&F training sessions from 9:30-11:30 and 1:00-3:00. When you register you pick the discipline you want to attend. More information at https://track.lopercamps.com/our-camps.cfm.


June 11-14 - UNK is again hosting the Fellowship of Christian Athletes running camp for high school athletes, and my observation is that this is one of the best community-building events for high school XC runners. Go to https://www.omahafca.org/camp#DistanceCamp for more info.


June 12-14 - UNL is hosting a T&F camp from 9:00-9:00 for three days with on-campus housing available. Go to https://www.huskertrackandfieldcamps.com/content/camps/2024-husker-tracker-and-field-summer-camp for more info.


June 16-23 - The Brocaw Blazers are offering their Colorado-based camp is one month earlier than normal in order to give everyone the best opportunity to get their base training started correctly for cross country season. June 26-28 - Pickstown (South Dakota) High School offers a three-hour camp each day; Pickstown is located on the Nebraska border about one hour north of O'Neill. Click on this link for more info.


July 9 - Wood River throwing camp organized by Matt Cantrell, head T&F coach. Derek Frese, the NWU throws coach, will be leading the teaching staff. Register at bit.ly/4dEUxbY. More info can be found here.


July 11 - Homer will be hosting the Tri-State Distance camp again from 8:30-2:55. Guest speakers include Cliff Cisar (UNO XC coach), Cody Mroczek (Scotus XC coach), and Jim the Shoe Guy. More information can be found at this link.


July 16 - Cozad cross country camp from 9:30 to 2:30 at Cozad High School. Guest speaker includes Brad Jenny (Doane) and Ryan Mahoney (Hastings College). More information can be found at this link.


July 17-20 - Black Hills State camp in Spearfish, South Dakota. This residential camp was recommended by a South Dakota high school coach who follows our Facebook account. Go to https://blackhillsstatecrosscountrycomps.totalcamps.com/shop/EVENT for more info.


July 22-23 - Eyes Up Next-Level camp at Creighton University for athletes entering 9th-12th grade. More information can be found at https://www.bluejayrunningcamps.com/summer2021.


July 22-24 - Duchesne Academy offers a camp for girls entering 4th-8th grade this fall; the cam pruns from 9:00-12:00 each day. More information can be found at https://www.duchesneacademy.org/admissions/summer-camps.


July 28-31 - Augustana offers a four-day camp in Sioux Falls with 'commuter' and 'on-campus overnight' options. More information can be found at this link.
